There are 184 specific areas that the U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study measures. These include climate, exterior, interior, seats, driving assistance, powertrain, driving experience, infotainment, and features/controls/displays.
This is the 37th publication of this study, and it analyzes any problems the original owners of 3-year-old vehicles have experienced over the past year. The results are represented as problems per 100 vehicles (PP100). The lower the score, the more dependable a vehicle is.
For 2026, 33,268 original owners were included, and their vehicles were 2023 models. This assesses the vehicles after 3 years of ownership.
