Jeep SUV Engines: The 2026 Jeep Cherokee runs on a 210-net-horsepower 1.6-liter I4 turbo hybrid engine. This is Jeep’s first-ever turbo hybrid vehicle. In addition to the engine power, there are two electric motors, which are recharged via regenerative braking. The Jeep Grand Cherokee has a new engine for the 2026 model year. The new 324-hp 2.0-liter Hurricane 4 turbo engine helps improve fuel efficiency, getting an EPA-estimated 21 mpg/city and 27 mpg/highway. With this engine, the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee produces a best-in-class driving range of 529 miles.
Jeep SUV Drivetrains: All 2026 Jeep Cherokee trim levels feature a standard 4×4 system.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee has standard two- or four-wheel drive, depending on the trim. Two-wheel drive is standard on the Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, Laredo Altitude, Laredo X, and Limited trims. Four-wheel drive is available. The two trim levels that have a standard 4×4 system are the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit and Limited Reserve.
